Review: 2019 Never Summer Proto Type Two

Size: 158 cm Days: 10+ Rider size: 5'8" 165 lbs Conditions Fresh snow to powder. Boots: ThirtyTwo Vela 9 US Women with Black Diamond liners 8 US Men Bindings: Burton Frankebinders: 2017 Infidel ( Baseplate: Single-Component 40% Long-Glass / Polypropylene Composite Re:Flex), Genesis Highbacks, Gettagrip capstraps, Hammockstrap ankle straps.    Set Up: 23 inch stance centered Front 18, Rear +12 Flex: Between 5 and 6 out of 10. 10 being the stiffest. Overall Feel Marketed as an aggressive All-Mountain snowboard, the Proto-Type Two (PT2) with the patented Ripsaw RockerCamber is feels like an all-mountain asymetrical do it all machine. It is, in fact, a great quiver killer as for the person that rides mostly resorts and likes to go everywhere on the mountain. However, it is good everywhere but not great anywhere. Let's pinpoint every aspect of the board in details below. Powder I'm not a big believer of specific boards for specific conditions but sometimes it helps. The Pro

Review: Burton Family Tree Speed Date

Size: 156 cm Days: 100+ Rider size: 5'8" 165 lbs Conditions Every possible condition since I own this snowboard since 2019 and it is one of my daily drivers. Boots: ThirtyTwo Vela 8 US / ThirtyTwo Premium Lashed 8 US Bindings: 2021 Now xYes Medium with Hard bushings Set Up: 23 inch stance, I always keep 16 inches of tail as a reference, Front: + 21 Rear: +6. Flex: 7 out of 10 but not on the stiff side. Between the Custom and the Custom X. Overall Feel Let's break it here, I have a love story with Burton freeride oriented snowboards and especially the Burton Custom, the Supermodel, and the Balance. The Terje pro model which is the Balance is my favorite all time favorite snowboard; from its narrow waist to its freeride to halfpipe versatility this is not a forgiving board but it gives you that confidence you need.  To me, the Speed Date is a freeride modern day tech adaptation of this all time classic. A T7 shape blended with a tapered tail of 7mm just as if you took a Cust

Review: Fullbag Blunt Diamond

Size: 156 cm Days: 25 - 30 Rider size: 5'8" 165 lbs Conditions As I owned this board for one season I encountered every condition possible at Le Relais, near Quebec City. Boots: Burton Ruler Wide Size 8 US Bindings: Frankenbinders Cartel baseplate, Genesis Highbacks and straps Medium Set Up: Multipe setback from 1" to 4", 23" stance Front +24 Back +9 Flex: Medium hard to hard, 8,5 on 10, 10 being the hardest. Overall Feel Fullbag snowsurfs are boards for advanced riders and they are pretty stiff. Designed by legendary Québécois Miguel Marco, strong of his many decades on snowboards and skateboards. The boards' construction is strong and the black base is tough.  With all that said, the Blunt Diamond 156 cm is a real treat for the all mountain freeride ripper. It is stable and it is surprising how it wants to work along with you. It is stiff but doesn't feel stiff like a plank. Really easy to manoeuver from slow to too fast speeds. It gives you that extra

Review: 2017 Burton Landlord

Size: 159 cm Days: 25 to 30 Rider size: 5'8" 165 lbs Conditions Hard pack to powder to slush mostly at Le Relais, near Quebec City. Boots: ThirtyTwo Premium Lashed 8 US Bindings: 2021 Now xYes Medium with Hard bushings Set Up: 22" stance and one inch setback, angles Front: +24 Back +9 Flex: Medium to Medium Hard I would give it a 7 out of 10, 10 being the hardest. Overall Feel The Landlord is an easy to ride directionnal camber board that rides like a lot of the latter years Burton freeride board with the rocker nose and the camber under the back foot. This makes this board easier to manoeuver everywhere but with a surprising twist. Powder It is his natural habitat, one of the best days I had last year was an early morning just after a nice Quebec snowstorm and I had one side of the resort almost only for me and I could just make my turns and see them in the chairlift after. The board floats and turns like a fish in the water. Effortless slashes and edge turns in more th

New Series Coming - Snowboard Gems Restorations

Coming back this winter with new posts! I will keep adding new snowboard reviews (if you are a brand, small or big you can send gears that I would gladly review) but I'd like to share my recent project: Snowboard Gems Restoration . With the constant evolution and growth of my quiver, I have purchased many new snowboards but I also like to discover some used snowboards gems that I will be restoring and ride.
